The military command has issued a stark warning to civilians in , , and : measure the distance from your home to the nearest bank. If it is less than 1 kilometre, you are within the potential target zone.
The warning comes from Khatam al-Anbiya, the joint command headquarters controlling all branches of Iran’s armed forces. They declared that all US- and Israeli-linked economic centres and banks in the Gulf are legitimate military targets. Residents were instructed to stay at least 1 kilometre away from banks such as Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered, JPMorgan, and other international branches.
This escalation follows a US-Israeli airstrike on Bank Sepah in northern Tehran, which Iran identifies as the IRGC’s main financial institution. The military statement essentially turns every bank in the Gulf into a potential flashpoint, creating a new chokepoint in the war — money.
Analysts say this threat doesn’t need missiles to have impact: insurance premiums rise, banks may close, multinationals could relocate funds, and the warning itself acts as a strategic weapon.
The conflict has now evolved across three major chokepoints:
Oil — Strait of Hormuz
Data — Tech companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia listed as targets
Money — Banks across Dubai, Bahrain, and Kuwait
The declaration highlights the autonomous authority of 31 IRGC commands, meaning no single leader can revoke this threat. The 1-kilometre safety radius around banks remains in effect until these independent commanders decide otherwise.
