A teacher at Faith Academy Basic School at Assin Dompim in the Assin Fosu Municipality of Ghana’s Central Region was discovered dead inside his room and the police say he might have ended it all himself.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Emmanuel Kofi Quainoo.
Sources at the school disclosed that Mr Quainoo had been absent from work for some time before returning to duty on March 3, 2026.
Colleagues said he reported to school that day but later left the premises around midday after the second break.
He reportedly informed fellow staff members that he was feeling unwell and needed to return home to seek medical attention.
However, later reports from the community indicated that he had allegedly taken his own life by hanging in his room at Assin Fosu.
According to accounts from the area, the teacher’s two daughters, aged eight and seven, made the disturbing discovery when they returned home from school later in the day.
The children reportedly raised an alarm after finding their father unresponsive, drawing the attention of neighbours.
Police have since begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident to establish what may have led to the teacher’s death.
