In a devastating blow to the U.S. military’s surveillance capabilities, an Iranian missile and drone strike at Saudi Arabia’s Prince Sultan Airbase destroyed a $270 million E-3 Sentry spy plane.

The attack highlights escalating tensions in the Middle East, with the U.S. losing one of its critical assets in gathering real-time intelligence.
The E-3 Sentry, a vital airborne early-warning radar aircraft, was one of 16 in service, with six stationed at Prince Sultan.
This loss is significant, as the plane’s real-time battle assessment capabilities are crucial for U.S. operations in the region.
Twelve U.S. service members were also reported injured in the strike, further complicating the aftermath. U.S. Central Command has yet to issue a formal statement on the attack, which has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of military personnel and the protection of key assets in the region.
