President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana is on course to exit the International Monetary Fund (IMF) support programme by April 2026, citing improving macroeconomic indicators and ongoing fiscal reforms.
Speaking at the Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue in Lusaka on Friday, Mahama said government measures aimed at stabilising inflation, strengthening revenue mobilisation, and restoring investor confidence are beginning to yield results.
He noted that the planned exit would mark a critical step toward economic recovery and reduced dependence on external financial support, while reaffirming his commitment to prudent economic management.
“These gains provide a solid foundation for Ghana’s development agenda, which focuses on five strategic pillars: industrialisation and value addition; export-led growth; modern infrastructure development; strong support for MSMEs, women, and youth entrepreneurs; and a predictable, transparent, investor-friendly business environment,” he said.
