A tragic event occurred at Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, Ghana, where a form three student and acting Boys' Prefect, Abass, fell from the top floor, leading to his death.
This incident took place on November 18, 2025, during school hours.
Abass was quickly taken to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Reports indicate that Abass had been dealing with emotional distress and had previously made comments about self-harm, which those around him dismissed as jokes. His mother and uncle shared that he felt overwhelmed by academic pressures and personal issues, yet they overlooked his concerns.
The school has suspended classes on the upper floors of the administration block while an investigation is underway, and safety barriers are set to be installed.
The regional office of the Ghana Education Service has announced that counselors will be available to provide trauma support for students and staff.
