Condemn South African Gays Who Displayed Love At Black Star Square - Ntim Fordjour Tells Mahama

John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, has admonished President John Dramani Mahama to use the National Day of Thanksgiving and Prayers tomorrow to condemn the homosexual display at the independence arch by some South African same-sex couple.

Photos of South African gays kissing at the Black Star Square went viral on June 24, 2025, sparking mixed reactions.

On Republic Day, July 1, President John Mahama will join Christians and Muslims to offer prayers for the nation.

As Ghanaians await the day, John Ntim Fordjour, is urging the President to use the occasion to condemn the act by the South African homosexuals and also issue stringent punitive measures to deter any same-sex couple from replicating such conduct.

"I will expect him to include in his speech his condemnation of what happened under the independence arch. It will be an opportune time for him and when he is done, he should instruct a punishment to serve as a deterrent to the citizenry and foreigners entering the nation to show that they can't undermine our culture, traditions, beliefs and family values", he said in an interview with Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show.

He further asked the President to "also throw his support for the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, the private members' bill, that has been reintroduced to Parliament".
